Six arrested in connection with violent disorder in St Ives

Dear Resident,

I wanted to provide an update on the investigation into the violent disorder that took place in The Broadway, St Ives, on the evening of 29 August.

Police received multiple reports of violence and criminal damage in the town centre. Two men were injured during the incident and were taken to hospital, where they received treatment for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Since then, detectives have made a number of arrests as part of their enquiries. Five people have been arrested on suspicion of offences including public order offences, possession of drugs and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. They have all been released on bail while the investigation continues. A sixth person was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence but has since been released without charge.

We understand this incident will have caused concern among residents, businesses and visitors. Violence and disorder of this nature has no place in our communities, and we are committed to identifying everyone involved and ensuring they are held accountable for their actions.

The investigation is progressing well and further arrests are expected in the coming weeks.
